Before it is made, all glass must go through a molten state. How a glass manufacturer casts it determines the type of final product. Flat glass, otherwise known as float glass, is spread out in thin sheets during the liquid (molten) state, making for a perfectly flat piece that can be used for various applications.

Flat glass can come in a variety of looks to fit your specific project needs. The most common flat glass products are typically clear, tinted, or patterned glass. However, we stock many other types of flat glass in our facility. We purchase many varieties of flat glass from glass manufacturers so you have multiple options of glass to fit your specific needs. See below for examples of the flat glass products we provide.

Flat Glass Options

Clear

Clear flat glass is the most requested glass. It is manufactured from raw recycled materials and “floated” into large sheets. Clear flat glass can be cut, drilled, polished, tempered, and made into almost any finished product to meet your exact specifications.

Low Iron

Virtually colorless in appearance, low-iron glass is manufactured with a reduced iron content, making for less of that typical greenish tint in most clear glass. Low-Iron glass can be tempered, laminated, and used for all applications popular in:

  • Shower doors
  • Display cabinets
  • Shelving
  • Furniture
  • Store fixtures

Why choose low-iron glass? Why choose low-iron glass? Because it offers you the most clarity available. That is why low-iron glass is becoming a popular choice for professionals and homeowners alike. Its benefits include:

  • Exceptional clarity
  • Colorless appearance
  • Higher light transmissions
  • Great for painted glass

Tinted

Tinted glass is flat glass that has color added during the manufacturing process. We carry multiple tints that will give your project a distinctive look. Call us the next time you are looking for something different. Tinted glass may just be solution you are looking for!

Pattern Glass

Northwestern Glass Fab offers a variety of patterned glass products to enhance the look of any glass wall, shower door, shelving unit, or more.

This, along with our existing glass fabrication capabilities, means we do everything in our facility, allowing us the flexibility to meet your tight deadlines.

Wire Glass

As its name suggests, wire glass is inlaid with wire. However, it also meets some fire-rated conditions. Its main purpose is to be able to withstand thermal shock during a fire, and it is typically used in doors or sidelites. To meet safety codes, a protective film can also be applied when necessary.

Fire-Rated Glass

Northwestern Glass Fab is a stocking distributor for Vetrotech’s Keralite high temperature ceramic glass. Insulated Glass

Insulated glass consists of two or more panes of glass that are separated using a spacer to create a space of air between them. They are then sealed around the edges to prevent moisture from penetrating that space. This glass fabrication technique helps to minimize the transfer of hot or cold air, making it an energy-efficient window option for homes and businesses.

  • Custom Shapes and Sizes
  • Clear, Low E, Tinted and Patterned Glass
  • Custom Grids and Muntins

Pyroceram glass is a heat-resistant glass-ceramic product that can tolerate high temperatures, making it an excellent choice for applications such as fireplaces, ovens, heat insulators, architectural lighting, and more.

Frosted Glass

This glass look is produced by acid etching regular, clear glass to give it a smooth, satin-like appearance. Benefits include a luxurious look, easy maintenance, and the admission of soft light into the space.
