We are looking for an Internal Metal Project Manager to manage & estimate low to midrange commercial storefront & interior projects for Northwestern Glass Fab. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, grow, and lead by example. Candidate will be responsible for managing projects, reviewing specifications, estimating, consulting clients, ordering materials, and maintaining bid lists for Northwestern Glass Fab. Candidates need clear communication skills, and the ability to solve problems.

Project Manager – Metal

Reports to Estimating Manager

Responsibilities

Manage commercial metal and volume shower projects 

Internal Project Management through NWGF/Brin Shop

Manage external materials via purchase orders, vendor relationships, shipping/receiving of jobs, and client project updates.

Ability to read & decipher Architectural plans and specifications

Strengthen key client relationships to achieve long-term partnerships. 

Maintain highly professional interactions and relationships with clients, vendors, and coworkers (in-person, email, zoom meetings & phone) 

Product specialist for commercial products (i.e., Storefront, Aluminum Doors, & Low Volume Curtain Wall (OBE & Tubelite), Hardware (Commercial and Showers) & Commercial Interior Glass Wall products. 

Handle inquiries and requests from customers and address their needs.  

Backup to Estimating Lead 

Order entry for metal jobs & large shower projects. 

Write detailed work orders and include drawings to instruct metal shop team on projects. 

Work with estimators to ensure maximum performance by providing direction and motivation.  

Estimate & provide take offs for small to large Jobs (Metal & Showers) 

Review and revise NWGF shop drawings for architect submittal and shop fabrication. 

Schedule metal jobs via metal production schedule 

Manage metal schedule

Minimize errors to ensure costs are minimized and the project stays on schedule. 

Order materials within project timeline(s) 

Develop knowledge of competitive prices and stay abreast of pricing changes within the Brin organization.  

Customer resolution 

Reporting 

Review Metal schedule with Metal shop lead & run weekly metal meetings 

Provide shop team with updated information on projects. 

Manage projects to be profitable and completed as efficiently as possible. 

Investigate and provide solutions for any project issues.  

Keep track of change orders to ensure project is billed correctly. 

Prepare estimates and bids within 24/48 hours.

Submit paperwork, NWGF shop drawings and product samples to clients in a timely manner.

Continuously work with Operations, Sales & Purchasing on commercial metal projects.

Provide close out documents and warranty letters to customers when requested.

Review large projects with the Estimating Manager, Estimating Lead & Sales Manager monthly.

Ongoing training in Glass, Glazing, Aluminum products & Professional Development.

Follow up on estimates regarding pricing or lead time issues.

Practice safety in the workplace and offsite if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pay ranges between $71,000 to $80,000 depending on experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in Glass and Glazing industry
  • 2+ years Customer Service and/or managing customer accounts.
  • 1+ year experience with aluminum storefront and hardware
  • Strong knowledge of estimating software including but not limited to BlueBeam, Glazier Studio, & Smart Glazier
  • Ability to multitask and balance workload.
  • Organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Strong mathematical aptitude (geometry/fractions/decimals)
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines
  • Ability to lead, train, provide feedback and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer software abilities including Microsoft Office Suite
